Nicaragua

The History

The work in Nicaragua was started by the Cuba Mennonite Church in Indiana when some of their members helped to rebuild after Hurricane Mitch devastated the country in 2003. Twenty houses were rebuilt in a devastated area for workers of a coffee plantation who had lost everything. The recipients of the houses asked for a church and the Cuba Mennonite Church turned to OBMM.

León

OBMM’s base is in the city of León, where a church was started in 2008. The first services of Palabra de Vida were held in a garage. In the next year or two the mission was able to purchase a suitable property. After some renovations, the one building became the church meeting place, and the other was made into an apartment and a children’s Sunday school.
